Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia
- Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia is a cancer of white blood cells known as B lymphoctyes.

Waldeyer ring - The lymphoid ring of the nasopharynx. A ring of lymphoid tissue that encircles the nasopharynx and oropharynx. It is formed by the lymphatic tissue of the pharynx, the palatine tonsil, and the lingual tonsil, as well as other collections of lymph tissue in the area.

white blood cells (WBCs) - protect the body from foreign microbes and toxins.

Wilms Tumor - Wilms' tumor is a solid tumor that originates in the kidney. It usually occurs in children under age 15 and is very different from adult kidney cancer.

Xeroderma Pigmentosum - Xeroderma Pigmentosum is a rare genetic condition characterized by an eruption of exposed skin occurring in childhood and photosensitivity with severe sunburn; inherited as a recessive autosomal trait in which DNA repair processes are defective so they are more likely to chromosome breaks and cancers when exposed to ultraviolet light.

xiphoid - Greek xiphos = a sword, and eidos = shape or form; hence, sword-shaped.

zona - Latin = a belt; hence, a circular band.

zonule - diminutive of zona.

zygapophysis - Greek zygon = yoke, apo = from, physis = growth; the articular process of a vertebra. The downward "growth" of the vertebra above articulates with the upward "growth" of the vertebra below, forming a zygapophyseal joint.

zygoma - Greek zygon = yoke; hence, the bone joining the maxillary, frontal, temporal and sphenoid bones.

zygomatic - adjective, Greek zygon = yoke; hence, pertaining to the bone joining the maxillary, frontal, temporal and sphenoid bones.

Zygomaticus - (G. zygoma, a bar or bolt) Pertaining to the zygomatic bone, e.g., musculus zygomaticus.

zygote - the fusing of an egg and a sperm.
